An "OK" kids cookbookApr 01, 2002
I bought the cookbook mainly for myself ( I am Emeril fan), wanting to use it with my daughter when she wanted to be in the kitchen with me. The recipes are really just his "regular stuff", meaning he didn't change anything to make them more desirable for children except for the names of the recipes (ie: Baby Bam Burgers, Little Mean Turkey Loaf, Broccoli with Seriously Cheesy Sauce, etc.) Only the names make them more desirable to children. Real pictures of the food are not included - they are simply colorful drawings that look real nice. My 7-year-old prefers real pictures of the food so she knows what she's going to be eating - so do I. In all, I like the book for myself to add to my Emeril collection, but my daughter has other kid's cookbook's that she prefers over this one. It's an "OK" kids cookbook. It was a nice attempt at a kids cookbook (the recipes ARE good) but I would reccommend going to the library and borrowing the book before deciding to buy it.

Excellent cookbook for older childrenApr 04, 2002
I have already tried a few of the recipes. They are easy to follow and delicious. I especially enjoy using the "Baby Bam" to kick things up a notch for my son. He's a little too young to appreciate this book yet, but he sure loves Emeril's chicken nuggets and french toast! This book really reads well -- you can just hear Emeril talking out loud as you read these recipes. Unlike some cookbooks, this one seems really thorough. I have read all of the recipes and there don't seem to be any missing steps. Everything is carefully explained so young cooks will know what they are doing. A really great book!

FUN AND DELICIOUS...KICKED UP A NOTCH!Jan 03, 2003

My 9-year-old daughter got this 5 days ago as a Christmas gift. She is interested in cooking and enjoys watching Emeril on TV, so I thought she'd like it. Wow! I think it is the most-used favorite so far of all her gifts! She's already made about 4 of the recipes, with another planned for tonight(I've borrowed it since then as well). They are easy to make and delicious, and I myself prefer it to Emeril's other cookbooks because, while the dishes may not be as sophisticated, the ingredients are usually things found already at home or are easy to pick up at the store (his "adult" recipes often call for more exotic things that are not always easy to come by outside Louisiana!). It also explains things more thoroughly. It is fun to spend time with her, "assisting"; and she's having fun and learning a lot at the same time. Often, it is difficult to get my daughter to sit still long enough to read a book...well, she pored over this one diligently the first night, reading the anecdotes and cooking tips (which are excellent too)! She is becoming quite the chef, and as a family we love the dishes she cooks(especially my very picky 4 year old)! They get a kick out of using the "Baby Bam" just like Emeril! Highly recommended!

Delicious FunDec 31, 2004
If you want to cook yummy food that is fun and easy to make, then this book is for you. Although the titles of each recipe are a little silly, the food is great, and your friends and family will love it. I recommend the alphabet soup, chili, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, rotini bake (similar to lasagne), and yes, the garlic bread (so tasty and so addicting!). I have made three complete meals with this cookbook so far (all by myself) and my sister and parents loved them!

My 11 year old recommends this bookApr 05, 2002
I bought this cookbook for my 11 year old son, because he likes to cook. The directions are easy to follow, and the food tastes good. The book also explains many basic cooking terms so I don't have to always answer the question, "Mom, what does this mean?"!!!! My son's made 4 recipes since we got the book 2 days ago. He's planning to make the Pokey Brownies this afternoon. He really loves the book. And I love it when some one else cooks! Thanks, Emeril.
