5Very highly recommended for time-stressed kitchen cooksNov 05, 2006
By Midwest Book Review
Featuring a compilation of recipes by Melanie Barnard and superbly illustrated with the color photography of Tucker & Hossler, "Food Made Fast: Weeknight" a combination of quick and easy, 20-minute preparation time meals for busy nights, and delicious 30-minute 'start-to-finish' recipes for anytime that time is of the essence. Also included are simple but elegant recipes for making large batches of those dishes that can not only provide an immediate dinner, but serve as the foundation for two or three future meals as well. From Tandoori-Style Halibut; Lemongrass Chicken and Asparagus; Chimichurri Steak; and Sausages with White Beans; to Cuban Beef Picadillo; Moroccan Lamb Burgers; Herbed Spinach Frittata with Feta; and Italian Seafood Stew, "Food Made Fast: Weeknight"truly lives up to its title and would make an welcome addition to any kitchen cookbook collection. Also very highly recommended for time-stressed kitchen cooks are the other outstanding titles in the Williams-Sonoma 'Food Made Fast' cookbook series from Oxmoor House: "Slow Cooker"; "Baking"; Pasta"; and "Soup".

5really really like this oneSep 03, 2007

great series, great book. it's now part of my weeknight rotation. everything i've tried has been wonderful. i especially like the chicken and peppers recipe. the book itself is great the way good williams-sonoma books are; beautiful pictures of everything and you know it will be fantastic, even if you haven't made it before. the recipes generally take me a bit longer than the stated prep time, but you still get great results, fast.

4Great recipes, beautiful cookbook, good tipsJun 08, 2007
By Ann D. Bates "shoe luvr"
I happen to love the beautiful presentation of WS cookbooks, and this book was no exception. In addition to the easy to make recipes (for the most part), there are suggested sides as well. Also, a handy cooking and shopping "how-to" is at the end of the book. Great for a beginner cook, or just someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen!

(minus one star because I would have like to see more recipes in the 20- and 30- minute section)

5Good for the cook who WANTS to cook from scratch quicklyNov 11, 2010
By charichari "charichari"
I have bought other cookbooks before where the recipes call for ingredients that are already processed. This IS NOT THAT BOOK! This book is absolutely perfect for the person who wants to know exactly what goes into their food. This book is for people who want to have fully nutritious, well balanced meals on a daily basis without spending three hours a night making dinner. Lastly, this book is for people who are perhaps a bit more adventurous with their palate.

There are some really great tips, like roasting 2 chickens on the weekend and using the leftover chicken in three different recipes throughout the week. Meal planning takes a little work, this book makes it a little easier.
I also want to add that the recipes in this book are very diverse, from Thai Chicken Curry, to Moroccan Lamb Burgers. The combinations are creative and will keep your palate pleasantly surprised on a regular basis. So for those who prefer processed food or don't like to venture out beyond mac n cheese, or if you prefer iceberg lettuce to arugula, I suggest you find a different cookbook.

I LOVE this book, I am still working through the recipes but so far so good. I must say that I for one find it a relief from the pressure of meal planning. I can simply flip through, find a few recipes that look appealing, add the ingredients to my weekly shopping list, and we are set for the week. Another thing I like is that the ingredients lists are budget friendly. I don't have to go out and buy a dozen expensive ingredients for each meal because many of the meals use similar ingredients (caveat: I do already have a rather well stocked kitchen). Cooking was starting to feel more like a mundane chore, this book made cooking fun again for me. I LOVE it!

5I Heart This CookbookMay 20, 2009
By Ashley Ashley "yoga hart"
After browsing through many cookbooks looking for heathly, quick and easy cookbooks, I stumbled upon this one. It is honestly the best cookbook I own. The meal preparations have ingredients that I regularly stock and it makes cooking very simple. I also love the back of the book because it gives weekly meal suggestions so buying the ingredients are cost effective. I would highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who is just starting to cook or has been cooking for awhile.
