I have a few of the Maglite LED flashlights, and love em. You can buy the 3 D cell for $25.99 with free shipping, or add a dollar or less to get free shipping on this flashlight.
The LED beam is brilliant white and with the lower power consumption the 2 D cell batteries will probably need to be replaced only when they begin to leak rather than when they wear out. The LED bulb should last as long as you own the flashlight and these flashlights are built just as well as any Maglite flashlight making them a great bargain. The only thing you might need to replace at some point is the lens, so to get the free shipping maybe buy the accessory pack to with it.
I was reluctant to buy one of the LED Mag flashlights after having a really bad experience with a much more expensive 3 LED flashlight that I returned the day after it arrived. But the Maglite flashlights are exceptional in all respects.
I've converted a couple of 2 C cell flashlights and they work every bit as well as this 2 D cell flashlight, but the total for the conversion is considerably more than the cost of buying this flashlight. I just like the size weight and feel of the 2 C cell, but...
Anyway this is a great flashlight at a unbeatable price. You can't even find it cheaper on the auction sites.

I purchased this flashlight to replace another exactly like it, which "mysteriously disappeared". I'm going to have to stop bragging about this flashlight to "everyone"! The things you want a flashlight to do: bright light; solid construction; reliability; good feel in your hands; long battery life. This flashlight has them all! The light from the LED is somewhat different than a regular bulb. Much brighter and whiter. Don't point the light into the eyes of a friendly human, but for some reason, the light does not seem to bother night time animals: cats; possums; raccoons; armadillos. Battery life is well above normal, and something odd to me was that one of the two batteries goes bad--sometimes with a negative voltage--while the other battery tests fine.
If I lose this one, I'll buy another just like it.

insane intensity with expected durable Mag-light construction. This is a superior lighting solution and I strongly urge anyone who needs a mobile lighting source to go with LEDS. They are a superior lighting option IMO:)

These new LED Mag lights are great !!!!!! But I also tried the up-grade bulb units.
Forget the up-grades ! they don't even come close to these, and are a waste of money.
Buy these New LED lights and use your old ones elsewhere, or give them away.
These are so good that I ordered a second one soon after getting the first one.
Flashlights will never be the same as we remember, and thats a good thing.
I will never buy a Non-LED light again.

The brightness of this 2-cell flashlight is incredible. (makes me wonder what a 3- or 4-cell LED light is like) You'll never go back to a regular one again. Construction is typical MagLite - solid.
I also read where the batteries in an LED flashlight last longer.
