regarding compatibility with other stereos besides TIVOLIAug 07, 2010
By Iruma This is quite important info if you are hooking this up with some other stereos other than tivoli models. The subwoofer cable provided is male to male 3.5mm stereo jack not the typical subwoofer mono RCA cable. My stereo having regular RCA mono female jack, i had to buy some extra cables/ adaptors before giving up this subwoofer because of the connection issue.
You can find a 3.5mm stereo to mono RCA cable, which os not easy to find.
Second option: you can buy regular subwoofer cable (which is mono RCA to mono RCA) and use an adapter at one end to make it into 3.5mm stereo male
Anyone who considers this subwoofer needs to know this important issue that i had! I, for example bought Mediabridge Ultra Series - Dual Shielded Subwoofer Cable - RCA to RCA Gold Connector - 15ft from this site, and RiteAV - 3.5mm Male to RCA Female Adapteralso here.
I'll skip talking about the sound of this sub because other reviewers said everyting needed to be mentioned. It's very subtle, but obviously sounds better with.
Beautiful, but not impressive in performanceApr 06, 2009

Recently, I bought B&O computer speaker, and realized need to buy a subwoofer. I wanted to buy not too big and not too expensive, but beatiful. Tivoli subwoofer seemed to satisfy all my options. However, in performance, little disappointed. The woofer makes some tearing sound if you listen music louder (not crazy louder - just plentful to your room).
Also, it automatically shut down, when the signal is missing, which means most of classic music is not supported (only pop music, but tearing sound).
If you want to buy this only for the design, just go for it.
Unless, buy different one.

I bought this Tivoli sub woofer for my pc. It is great for listening to I Tunes from my computer desk top. I highly recommend this product!

OverratedJan 11, 2008
By W. Mallick I was wholly unimpressed with the Model Subwoofer. I read the rave reviews of the whole Tivoli Model Two line and purchased the Model Two stereo and the Model Subwoofer.
First, let me say that the Model Two stereo is really good. The sound is very clear and transparent across many genres of music. I love Jazz, Techno, Classical and Rock, so I demand a lot from my listening gear. Listening to the Model Two almost reminds me of listening to reference speakers, I could really hear the mix very well. Everyone is right about the FM tuner, I live in Madison Heights and have no problem receiving NPR from Ann Arbor.
I'm glad the subwoofer shipped a day later. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had the pleasure of enjoying the Model Two on it's own. First, the connections on the subwoofer were loose. Then, after I got the cables plugged in, I tried it out, and wow, what a huge disappointment! Wow! I was so underwhelmed that I felt completely ripped off. The bass was muddy, it sounds like the subwoofer is reproducing frequencies as high as 200Hz, which makes the bass muddy, and draws attention to it.
On the plus side, the cabinet looks very nice. Now let me box it back up before it gets scratched.
I highly recommend using a subwoofer with the Model Two. But use another subwoofer, not the Tivoli. I am using a KLH subwoofer which was purchased for less money and it sounds much better.

Good value and nice soundApr 17, 2007

This unit sounds great for the size (much better than a more expensive Bose system). The styling and build quality are outstanding. It was very easy to set up.
A few minor quibles. I wish it had bass and treble controls (though I rarely find myself wanting to make adjustments). The input select switch makes a slight noise in the speakers when switching from radio to CD.
