a great cookbook.Feb 08, 2008
By S. E. DeFusco Again Williams and Sonoma has produced a cookbook worth displaying on a coffee table. The photographs are artistic and inspiring. Also, as I have come to expect from W&S, the recipes can be trusted most of the time to be delicious and well-flavored. It is helpful to note however that in this book, unlike in Food Made Fast: Weeknight, most of the recipes do take 30+ minutes. This may very well not agree with everyone's definition of "fast". But, the recipes are conveniently divided into three sections to let you know what your time commitment will be: "30 Minutes Start-to-Finish", "15 Minutes Hands-on-Time" (indicating you should only need to spend 15 minutes, usually at the start and end of cooking, actively in the kitchen), and "Make More to Store" (helpful ideas for cooking meat once and reusing the leftovers). Another helpful point is that the timing for the recipes is only accurate if you have the ingredients in the exact form as they are on the ingredients list. (Often, there is a good bit of time spent in the Mis en Place before you can begin to cook-- this time is not included in the 30-minute figure.)
One last note I would give is that there are an awful lot of recipes in this book which use pork. So, if you're not a fan of pork, that may discourage you.
A great cookbook. I love it.

In my family, we are always looking for new recipes for simple but healthy meals. The recipes in this book provide some tasty solutions, although many are beef and pork based.

Great Simple RecipesJan 17, 2011
By James Conklin I was looking for a cookbook with recipes I could make after I got home from work. I have had a lot of fun making these dinners. After two weeks, I've already made 5 of the meals in this book. Even more significantly, I want to try almost every single recipe in here.
They are easy to follow and taste wonderful. This has helped bring me back to cooking after several years of eating out.

By Roxane E. Zach Beautiful photos, good recipes, easy to make. Some mistakes and incorrect references. Not the usual Williams Sonoma type of work.

Kudos to Williams-Sonoma for a cookbook that is well laid-out and with recipes that are simple to assemble and get on the table. Very tasty, healthy and a little bit different, this book will inspire and relieve every mom out there who just needs a fresh idea or two for dinner.
